Today, you’ll start your mountain biking from Thamel, our office in Kathmandu. Head towards the north part of the valley and ride through rushing city life in Kathmandu towards the outskirts to Tokha, a historical town that beautifully balances tradition and modernity. Known for its well-preserved Newari architecture and traditional lifestyle, Tokha offers a unique cultural experience. Explore ancient brick-paved streets, centuries-old temples, and traditional Newari houses. Tokha is also renowned for its mustard oil, which you can see being made in traditional mills. Enjoy local Newari cuisine such as sukuti (dried meat) and bhuttan (fried intestine). In the late afternoon, arrive at Kakani, a beautiful village located northwest of Kathmandu. You will rest here for the night.

From Kakani, you make your way to Chisapani, a serene destination offering stunning sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayan range. After the entry permits are taken, you will ride through the Shivapuri National Park, an eco-tourist haven teeming with wildlife, including various bird species and lush vegetation. Cycling through this region provides a peaceful retreat with the backdrop of majestic mountains towards North and admire the expanse of Kathmandu valley in the south with a downhill adventure.

Your next destination is Nagarkot, renowned for its awe-inspiring sunrise views over Mount Everest and other peaks. The route to Nagarkot is dotted with traditional villages, terraced fields, and scenic beauty that showcases Nepal’s rural charm.You will ride around the edge of Kathmandu Valley towards the outskirts via Jaharsing Pauwa which is a getway point towards Sindhupalchowk district. The vast valley made by melamchi river flowing from the Mountain Peaks like Jugal Himal, Ganchenpo, Dorje Lhakpa provides a jaw dropping sight of the mighty Himalayas. As you arrive early at Nagarkot, you can also have time to enjoy the adventurous enduro trails around the forest after lunch.

Dhulikhel is a historic town rich in Newari culture and architecture. As you pedal through its ancient streets, you’ll encounter beautifully crafted temples and old houses adorned with intricate woodwork. Dhulikhel offers splendid views of the eastern Himalayas and is an excellent spot for learning about the local culture and heritage. You will stop for local dal bhat (lentil soup with rice) and other traditional Nepalese foods. A short ride from Dhulikhel brings you to Namobuddha, a sacred Buddhist pilgrimage site. According to legend, it is here that Buddha, in a previous life, offered his body to a starving tigress and her cubs. The site features a beautiful stupa and monastery, providing a serene environment for reflection and spiritual rejuvenation. You will stay at the monastery guest house in Namobuddha. During your stay at monastery guest house; you will be a part of monastic life where you eat what monks offer and make in their daily life.

It is your final day for your multi-day ride in Kathmandu valley. We start early from Namobuddha completing morning prayers and meditation in the Monastery. We head west taking the roads to Panauti which is a must visit heritage settlement outside the Kathmandu Valley. Panauti is a well-preserved Newari town, often described as a living museum due to its rich history and heritage. The town hosts numerous temples and traditional houses that offer a glimpse into ancient Nepali architecture. You will explore the Indreswor Temple, one of the oldest in Nepal, and enjoy the local Newari cuisine, including juju dhau (king curd) and bara (lentil patties). From Panauti, you will ride an uphill track towards Lakuri Bhanjyang which is another hill station of Kathmandu Valley. As you pedal downhill from Lakuri Bhanjyang, you will ride through Lubhu, a traditional Newari settlement known for its weaving industry. The local culture is rich with festivals and traditional crafts. Visiting Lubhu allows you to experience authentic Newari hospitality and cuisine, with dishes like chatamari and aloo tama (potato and bamboo shoot curry). From Lubhu, you will ride to the architecture marvel of Patan in Lalitpur, a city famed for its exquisite temples, palaces, and rich cultural heritage. The Patan Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the highlight, showcasing ancient Newari architecture with its beautifully carved windows, statues, and courtyards. Enjoy the local momo (dumplings) and other Newari sweets as you reflect on your adventurous journey. Your tour concludes at our office in Thamel in the afternoon.
